Mr Cooper is responsible for the ACCC branch that is leading the development and implementation of Australia’s consumer data right. This policy, which will allow consumers to direct trusted third parties be given access to their data, will facilitate competition and innovation; first in banking, energy and telecommunications sectors.

Mr Cooper was previously General Manager with responsibility for the ACCC’s international, advocacy and intelligence units and the ACCC’s international capacity building activities.

Mr Cooper has also managed the ACCC’s Corporate and Regulatory Law Unit and worked as an investigator in the ACCC’s enforcement division, where he worked on a range of competition and consumer protection matters including international cartel investigations.

Bruce Cooper joined the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission in 1998. Prior to joining the ACCC, Mr Cooper worked in a number of private and government legal roles.
