The month of March and early April saw a number of high-profile appointments and departures across the financial services sector, with noteworthy additions to AIA, BOQ and MLC Life.
 

Australia

AIA Australia has appointed Kelly Smith to the position of Head of Innovation.

The Bank of Queensland (BOQ) has appointed Adam McAnalen to the position of Chief Risk Officer, following the forthcoming retirement of Peter Deans in May.

ANZ has appointed Mark Hand to the position of Group Executive Australia Retail and Commercial Banking and Maile Carnegie to the position of Group Executive Digital and Australia Transformation.

MLC Life Insurance has appointed Sean McCormack to the newly expanded position of Chief of Group and Retail Partners following the departure of Chief Customer Officer, Group Insurance, Suzanne Smith, who has been appointed as APRA’s General Manager of Superannuation.

Deutsche Bank has appointed Jennifer Scott-Gray to the position of Head of Global Transaction Banking, Australia.

Gateway Bank has appointed Ritu Sinha to the position of Chief Customer Officer.

The Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) has appointed Elissa Freeman and Louise Lakomy to its board.

Westpac has appointed David Lindberg to lead its consumer division following the merger of its BT Financial Group (BTFG) businesses with the bank’s consumer and business divisions; Alastair Welsh will lead the Business division on an acting basis.

Westpac has also announced the departure of George Frazis, Consumer Bank Chief Executive, following the merger.

IAG has announced the retirement of Jacki Johnson, Group Executive of People, Performance & Reputation, effective 30 June 2019.

NAB has announced the departure of Lorraine Murphy, Chief People Officer; Julie Rynski, currently Customer Executive Regional and Agribusiness, will act as interim Chief People Officer until a permanent replacement is found.

NAB has also appointed current board director and Acting Group Chief Executive Officer Philip Chronican as chair.

Heritage Bank has appointed Wendy Machin, former NSW Government minister, to its board.

AMP Limited has appointed Debra Hazelton to its board as Non-Executive Director. AMP also announced the retirement of Geoff Roberts from its board.

Former Commonwealth Bank chief executive Ian Narev has been appointed to the position of Group Chief Operating Officer and Asia Pacific and Americas Chief Executive at SEEK.
 

NZ

Suncorp New Zealand has appointed Jane Brewer as Executive General Manager Technology, Data and Labs.

ASB has appointed Tim Deane to the position of Executive General Manager, Business Banking.

The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has appointed Louise Nicholson to the position of Director of External Communications and Investor Capability and Scott McMurray to the position of Director of Strategy and Stakeholder Relations.

Westpac New Zealand has appointed Pip Greenwood to its board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
