March saw a number of high-profile appointments and departures across the financial services sector, with noteworthy additions to AIA Australia, Suncorp, and Police Bank.

The Police Bank has appointed Greg McKenna to the position of Chief Executive.

Suncorp has appointed Darren Abbruzzese as acting Chief Information Officer following the resignation of incumbent CIO Sarah Harland, who served three and a half years in the role.

NAB has appointed Michael Saadie as interim Chief Customer Officer, Business and Private Banking following the departure of incumbent CCO Anthony Healy, who served 10 years at the bank.

AIA Australia has appointed Ben Walsh to the newly created position of Chief Life Insurance Officer.

Watchdog APRA has appointed Renee Roberts as Executive Director of the regulator’s Policy and Advice division. Roberts previously served as Chief Operating Officer at QBE.

Integrity Life has appointed Lesley Mamelok as acting Chief Executive following the announcement of CEO Chris Powell’s forthcoming retirement in mid-2020.

MyState has announced it has agreed to keep Chief Executive and Managing Director Melos Sulicich on for a further 18 months to maintain continuity in what is widely predicted to be a global economic downturn. Sulicich announced his departure from the Tasmania-based bank earlier this year; he was due to leave at the end of June 2020.

ClearView Wealth has appointed Hicham Mourad to the position of General Manager, Information Technology. Mourad will lead the implementation of the group’s new IT strategy. He formerly served as Westpac’s Head of Platforms, Investments and Operations.

The National Stock Exchange of Australia (NSX) has appointed John Karantzis as interim Chief Executive and Director. Karantzis was Founder and serves as Managing Director and Chief Executive of iSignthis (which has a 13 per cent stake in the NSX).

Newcastle Permanent has appointed Karina Kwan and Nicki Page to its Board as Non-Executive Directors.

Financial technology developer VaultID has announced it will add former Macquarie Chief Operating Officer Neil Roderick to its Board.

NAB’s Head of Consumer Banking, Mike Baird, has announced he will resign from his position.

CBA’s Executive General Manager for Strategic Development, Michael Cant, has announced he will leave the organisation after 20 years at the bank.

AMP has announced the retirement of Director Andrew Harmos from its Board.

Media Super has announced the departure of Chief Executive Graeme Russell. Russell served more than seven years at the industry super fund.

Westpac has announced the departure of Non-Executive Director, Anita Fung, from its Board.
